Omega Dried Apricot: chewy dried apricots for snacking, tagines, granola and baking. Single 1 kg pack.
Dried apricots are whole apricots dried until chewy, with a concentrated sweet-tart flavour. The apricot is the fruit of trees in the genus Prunus, usually Prunus armeniaca, and Turkey leads world production. Eat them as a snack with nuts, chop them into granola, flapjacks, fruit cakes and scones, or simmer them into compotes and jams. In savoury cooking they are classic in Moroccan lamb and chicken tagines, Persian rice dishes and stuffings for roast chicken. Soak firm apricots in warm water or orange juice for 20 minutes to plump them before baking. Keep dried apricots in a sealed container in a cool place, or the fridge in summer, so they stay soft and do not darken quickly. Chopped apricots also add sweetness to couscous salads and lentil soups.
