Omega Almond Nibbed: chopped blanched almonds for cake decoration, cookies, granola and sweets. Single 1 kg pack.
Nibbed almonds are blanched almonds chopped into small, even pieces. They are made for baking and decorating: press them onto the sides of cakes, scatter them over buns, florentines and biscotti, or fold them into cookie dough, granola and muesli. In Middle Eastern and South Asian sweets they garnish kheer, halwa, basbousa and kunafa. Toast them in a dry pan or oven for a few minutes until golden to deepen the flavour, watching closely as small pieces brown fast. The almond tree is a species of the genus Prunus, classed with the peach in the subgenus Amygdalus. Chopped nuts go stale faster than whole ones, so keep nibbed almonds sealed and refrigerate them in hot weather. Bakeries use nibbed almonds to finish Bakewell-style tarts, mamool and florentines.
