Omega Dry Figs: chewy dried figs for cheese platters, baking, porridge and anjeer milk. Single 1 kg pack.
Dried figs are the dried fruit of Ficus carica, a tree native to the Mediterranean and to western and southern Asia and cultivated since ancient times. They are chewy and honey-sweet, with tiny crunchy seeds. Serve them with cheese, walnuts and honey on a platter, slice them into salads, or chop them into fig rolls, cakes, breads and porridge. Simmered with a little water and lemon, they make a quick jam, and in Indian homes soaked figs are blended into anjeer milkshakes and barfi. Snip off the hard stem before use. If figs are very firm, soak them in hot water for 15 minutes. Keep dried figs sealed in a cool place, and refrigerate in humid weather to keep them soft and fresh.
