Omega Golden Raisins: light, fruity raisins for biryani, kheer, couscous and baking. Single 1 kg pack.
Golden raisins are light-coloured dried grapes, sometimes called sultanas; a sultana is a golden-coloured dried grape. They are softer and fruitier than dark raisins and keep a bright colour after baking. Fry them briefly in ghee until they puff up to garnish biryani, pulao, kheer, sheer khurma and vermicelli desserts, or add them to couscous, carrot cake, scones, fruit loaves and chutneys. They also brighten cheese boards and salads with nuts. Because they are light in colour, they suit pale bakes and rice dishes where dark raisins would look heavy. Keep golden raisins sealed and cool, and use clean, dry hands or a scoop so they do not clump. Golden raisins are a favourite in Gulf rice dishes too, scattered over machboos and ouzi with fried onions and toasted nuts for sweetness and colour.
